July 1, 2008  (Cincinnati, Ohio)   BioRx, a specialty pharmacy,  and  Hemophilia of North Carolina announce the winners of the 2008 BioRx Educational Scholarships.  The scholarships are funded by BioRx through an educational grant, which is administered by Hemophilia of NC, a chapter of the National Hemophilia Foundation.

Established in 2004, the BioRx Educational Scholarships are intended for anyone in the country living with a bleeding disorder, including caregivers of children affected with bleeding disorders, a person who has been diagnosed with a bleeding disorder, or a sibling of a person diagnosed with a bleeding disorder.  Each year, three individuals are selected to receive a $2,000 scholarship toward their education.  While the scholarships are available to anyone with a bleeding disorder, preference is given to applicants who are working toward completing coursework in a healthcare related field at accredited colleges or certified training programs.

The recipients of the 2008 BioRx Educational Scholarship Awards are:

•  Karin Azzarano, Meadowbrook, Pennsylvania
•  Manuela Lee, The Woodlands, Texas
•  Esmaeel Paryavi, Rockville, Maryland

Karin, who has two sons with Hemophila A, is working towards a degree in Dental Hygiene from Manor College. Manuela  who has Von Willebrand’s Disease – Type 1, is a registered nurse and will pursue an advanced degree in nursing from Lone Star College.  Esmaeel has Hemophilia A and will pursue a degree in BioEngineering at the University of Maryland.
